About SAE India Collegiate Club of SVEC

SAE India is an affiliate society of SAE International, registered as an Indian non-profit engineering and scientific society dedicated to the advancement of the mobility community in India. As an individual member-driven society of mobility practitioners, it comprises members who are individuals from the mobility community, which includes engineers, executives from industry, government officials, academics, and students. SAE India organizes international meetings and exhibitions each year that cover all aspects of technology related to design, manufacture, and total life cycle technology for the automotive, aerospace, off-highway, truck and bus, fuels, and lubricants, and other related mobility industries. These events bring engineers and technical experts from around the world together to share information and network. SAE India organizes a variety of competitions namely SUPRA SAE India Student Formula, Baja SAE India, and EFFI Cycle every year for engineering students across the country.

The Collegiate Club of SVEC in association with SAENDIA provides informative meetings to the students with Industry authorities. It stimulates students’ participation in projects that require the application of engineering knowledge and promote professional growth. The Club sponsors visits to industrial plants and engineering research centers. It encourages students to prepare technical presentations for collegiate Club meetings, section meetings, and for entry in student-level competitions. The Club furthers informal contacts with the engineers who are active in industry and government through joint meetings with the section. It arranges the presentation of industrial and government films that illustrate the application of engineering principles. The Collegiate Club provides opportunities for students to gain experience in administering organizational activities, concluding meetings, taking part in committee activities, and writing and speaking before groups. It also offers social programs that help develop lasting friendships among students themselves, the faculty, and section members. The Club also provides additional exposure for members as well as Clubs through the annual student design competitions and with the recognition and awards programs.

SAE Collegiate Club of SVEC was started on 25 July 2014 with 50 student members with the mentorship of Dr.Hariprasad Tarigonda, Faculty Advisor, Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department. Since then, it has achieved many laurels through the consistent hard work and dedication of its student members. The Collegiate Club currently has a total of 199 student members at present. The students of the Club participate in various competitions like vehicle design, fabrication, and testing events in the name of SAE BAJA, Tier-I events, Tier-II events, student conventions, and other programs conducted by SAE.
