DEPARTMENT PROFILE
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a Post Graduate Program, offers 3 year MCA and 2 year MCA (Lateral entry into 2nd year) programmers. These programs are duly approved by the AICTE, New Delhi and are affiliated to JNTUA, Ananthapuramu. In Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, MCA was established in the year 1998 by Padma Shri Awarder Dr. M. Mohan Babu who is a renowned movie artiste, producer and former Member of Parliament (RS). It has grown in its size and stature over the years, with an objective of maintaining a high standard of excellence through quality, technology and innovation.
The MCA program strives to prepare participants for high level careers in the ever expanding field of Computer Applications. At present, the annual intake of the department is 60 with 10% intake of lateral entry students (MCL) directly into the second year. The department is well equipped with qualified and experienced faculty, computer laboratories and Internet facilities to serve the teaching and research demands of the students and the faculty. A team of experienced members of faculty are dedicated to teaching and developing academic activities in the department. The department received academic autonomy in the year 2010. It believes in academic excellence through value based education, which is conducive to boost the inherent capabilities and confidence of the students to take up the challenges in the cutting edge global scenario.
The Department of Master of Computer Applications was established in the year 1998 with an objective of producing high quality software professionals. MCA is three-year full-time course comprised of total six semesters. At present, the annual intake of the department is 60. The MCA programme is duly approved by the AICTE and the Government of Andhra Pradesh and is affiliated to JNTUA, Ananthapuramu.The Department has 16 faculty members with 15:1 student-faculty ratio. Three faculty members have Ph.D., Four are pursuing and the rest have PG qualification. The Department is also supported with technical/ non-teaching staff.
The Department regularly organizes Guest Lectures, Expert Lectures, Seminars, Workshops and Add-on courses for the benefit of the students. Students are also encouraged to participate in technical symposiums/conferences conducted by various organizations. About 15 students are attached to a mentor to guide, motivate and counsel them in academic and career guidance.
The Department has student’s technical association namely Intellectual Masters Association of Computers (IMAC) which organizes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities regularly. Faculty members of the Department are keenly involved in updating their skills by attending various workshops, FDPs and publishing papers in renowned Journals.

BASIC DESCRIPTION
The Department is headed by Dr. K. Suneetha, Director (MCA) with an extensive experience of 19+ years. The Department is supported by a team of 11 highly qualified and experienced faculty members with 20:1 Student-Faculty ratio.
In the Department there are 3 doctorates, 2 pursuing Ph.D and the rest are holding PG qualification with rich experience and extensive domain knowledge. It also supported with technical and non-teaching staff members, who continuously strive to provide students a best platform to learn and get succeed.
