Counselling is a process that aims to facilitate personal well being of the students through support and guidance of trained counselors, for a healthy mind and body.

With the intent to address and help resolve emotional and psychological issues of the student community of Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College, the college has initiated the “Counselling Cell” in the college premises with the help of faculty members as Counselors and YOURDOST team.

The Counselling Cell encourages the students to understand themselves and the issues that trouble them and guides them to resolve their problems. These problems can be personal, emotional, social, family, peer, academic, sexual, etc. This is done through individual or group counselling to help them with academic goals, social and personality development, career goals, and in enhancing listening skills, empathy and interpersonal skills to have healthy relationships and a healthy lifestyle.

The role of the Counselor is to offer support through listening and responding in a confidential, non-judgemental and timely way, ensuring that the students become productive and well adjusted adults of tomorrow. Counselors are trained to assess, diagnose the students struggling with academic stress, anxiety, depression, social addictions and other problems.

The goal of Counselling is to make students adapt positive behaviour to improve their ability to establish and maintain relationships socially, promote their decision making process, help them understand their own potential and cope effectively with the problems they face.

In Association with YOURDOST, 24/7 online counseling facility is made available to all the students and staff of Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College. The counselors are available over chat, phone and video calls based on the need of the individual. Also, every Tuesday, an External counselor is made available on campus and any student/staff can book an appointment for taking the counseling.

In addition to the counseling services, webinars for the well being of the community of students and staff are planned quarterly in association with YOURDOST.

The Constitution of the country, promulgated in 1950, recognizes the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes as the two most backward groups need special protection. A number of provisions have been made in the Constitution with a view to abolish all forms of discrimination and put these groups at par with others.

The Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), University Grants Commission and AICTE have given priority to the downtrodden students and staff and have given directions to all the universities to establish SC/ST/OBC Cell. In this regard the Minority/SC/ST/OBC Cell is established at our college.
