Civil Engineering

DEPARTMENT PROFILE
Civil Engineering, one of the oldest engineering disciplines involves planning, designing and executing of structural works. The profession deals with a variety of engineering tasks inclusive of designing, supervision and construction activities of public works like roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, dams, water works, sewage systems, ports etc. and offers a multitude of challenging. The civil engineering arena is always in great demand until the human race exists on this planet. SVEC’s Civil Engineering department was established in the year 2009 with an initial intake of 60, followed by an increased intake of 120 in the year 2011.
The major specializations within civil engineering are structural, geo-technical engineering, hydraulics & water resources, environmental, construction and transportation. Enhancing the scope for learning for students, the department frequently organizes Seminars, Guest Lectures, Expert Lectures, Technical Symposiums and paper contests.
VISION
To become a leading centre of excellence in Civil Engineering education through teaching, research, consultancy and public service.
MISSION
- Inspire the civil engineers of tomorrow to take on the challenges of creating and sustaining the built environment that support our society.
- Nurture these civil engineers with fundamental engineering knowledge, a broad set of skills, and an inquisitive attitude for creating innovative solutions to serve industry and community through contemporary curriculum, congenial learning environment, pertinent research, industry-institute interaction, mentoring, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Encourage faculty and staff to excel in their respective fields and demonstrate the best of their abilities by way of continuing education and consultancy.
