Department Profile:

The Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering was established in the academic year 1999-2000 and it is also offering another UG Program: B.Tech in Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) with annual intake of 60 from the academic year 2020-2021.

B.Tech (CSBS) program:

The objective of B.Tech (CSBS) program is to produce a workforce to support Business 4.0. The Philosophy of this program is “Reinvent the business models with digital technology”.

The Program focuses on enhancing the following key attributes among graduating students:

  • Understand and apply the skills of Digital Technology
  • Knowledge of Business Systems Principles
  • Skills of Business Discipline and Service Orientation
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ability
  • Strong in Ethics and Life Values

The graduates of B.Tech (CSBS) program have to design, develop, and maintain intelligent, elastic, lean, combinational and Real Time Digital Enterprise. This program mainly focuses on the digital technology skills with business applications rather than engineering concepts.

The department equips students with all the necessary learning mechanisms to exceptionally develop computing systems. Housing 246 Computer Systems with latest configuration and a library with latest Titles, Editions, NPTEL Courseware, IEEE research journals alongside an internet facility, the department provides students with best scope to learn and imbibe maximum knowledge.

While the most enriching knowledge transfer happens through frequently held Seminars and Guest Lectures alongside Technical Symposiums / paper contests; the department ensures perfection by attaching a batch of only 15 students to a guide, facilitating quick and easy approach to learning. The Department’s Technical Association organizes Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular activities regularly, to keep the spirit of the students high, facilitating overall personality development.

The Computer Science & Systems Engineering is a multi-facet arena that involves computer hardware manufacturing, information or communication systems and healthcare systems development and management. The industry throws open a gamut of opportunities for young individuals to make a successful career. SVEC’s Computer Science & Systems Engineering department was established in the year 1999 with annual intake of 40, followed by an increase to 60 in the year 2002 and to 120 by the year 2012.The department equips students with all the necessary learning mechanisms to exceptionally develop computing systems (Hardware). Housing 246 Computer Systems with latest configuration and a library with latest Titles, Editions, NPTEL Courseware, Journals alongside an internet facility, the department provides students with best scope to learn and imbibe maximum knowledge.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After few years of graduation, the graduates of B.Tech (CSBS) will:

  1. Purse higher education in reputed institution in business Management with computer Science fundamentals and also perform technical/managerial roles in own /other organizations and contribute to the economy of nation.
  2. Acquire technical skills with common business principles necessary to be competent employers, employees, leaders, and enjoy successful career with professional satisfaction.
  3. Exhibit high ethical attitude and professional standards by demonstrating engineering or managerial decisions with zeal in professional growth while being Productive citizens through life-long learning.

 

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the Program, the graduates of B.Tech (CSBS) program will be able to:

  1. Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7. Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  8. Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  9. Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  10. Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
